Gratitude and Appreciation – Day 11

I am so very grateful to have done tons of walking today – over 15000 steps. This is something that I really didn’t think I would be able to do. I have been working on walking longer distances for quite a while and just don’t seem to do well with more than 1 1/2 miles at a time. Walking over 7 miles in a day wasn’t even something that had ever crossed my mind. I did it over the whole day with many smaller, joy-filled and feeling good walks. My last walk of the day happened at sunset and what a magnificent sunset it was! Absolutely stunning. Mother nature sure knows how to put on a show to be grateful for.

Last night I managed to get myself it a small twist over something that really wasn’t mine to get irritated about. This morning I went and found two very apt quotes from Byron Katie:

Staying in Your Own Business
I can find only three kinds of business in the universe: mine, yours, and God’s. (For me, the word God means “reality.” Reality is God, because it rules. Anything that’s out of my control, your control, and everyone else’s control—I call that God’s business.) Much of our stress comes from mentally living out of our own business. When I think, “You need to get a job, I want you to be happy, you should be on time, you need to take better care of yourself,” I am in your business. When I’m worried about earthquakes, floods, war, or when I will die, I am in God’s business. If I am mentally in your business or in God’s business, the effect is separation.

To think that I know what’s best for anyone else is to be out of my business. Even in the name of love, it is pure arrogance, and the result is tension, anxiety, and fear. Do I know what’s right for myself? That is my only business. Let me work with that before I try to solve your problems for you. If you understand the three kinds of business enough to stay in your own business, it could free your life in a way that you can’t even imagine. The next time you’re feeling stress or discomfort, ask yourself whose business you’re in mentally, and you may burst out laughing! That question can bring you back to yourself.

What ease is felt when I stopped trying to be in someone else’s business. It seems so simple but it makes the world of difference to how I feel. It is most definitely a skill that will require a bit of practice but I am up for it.

While I was out walking, I remembered that, at one time, years ago, I was listening to material by Byron Katie in my car. I wasn’t sure if I still had it or even where it could be. When I got home, I went nosing around and came across a treasure trove of material by Byron Katie. While I don’t remember actually doing much with it, I must have realized the benefit to be had as I have several works. I am so looking forward to looking through the stuff more fully tomorrow and ripping the cd’s to mp3s so I can listen on the go! 🙂 Gotta love when I remember those type of “memories” to help me along my current path 🙂 So grateful for it all 🙂

Until Tomorrow!

Gratitude and Appreciation – Day 10

Lots of great little things to express gratitude for today. 🙂

Last week, I had to contact the IRS to try to get some business information from them. I am so grateful for Ms. Hall, who went above and beyond, to help me out even though their computer system wasn’t working as it should have been. I was able to find out what I needed and she said she would fax the information to me. Unfortunately the fax never came and when I tried to call back, I was told that their systems would be down until the 3rd of January. I hadn’t had time to spend time on hold yet, so was EXTREMELY happy when I went and got the mail. Thank you Ms. Hall for sending the letter via USPS. 🙂 You are so very appreciated!

In working on our accounting software, I realized that a sizable credit that we were supposed to receive from one of our suppliers, in April, never made it into our account. It was so quick and easy to get sorted out and a check is on the way. 🙂

I realized that I could easily walk around the parking lots at work in order to up my daily step total for FitBit. I love my FitBit, as it helps me challenge myself to do better on the health front. It is amazing how little I would move on a daily basis. FitBit motivates me to take the long way around and park out and I am so appreciative of that.

The last bit of gratitude is for an unsecured wireless connection and my netbook. I am able to sit in my car, waiting for my daughter to finish her dance class, and write my gratitude post for today! How cool is that?!

Until Tomorrow!

Gratitude for A Good Day – Day 9

Today was a very good day 🙂 Work was very busy and I got quite a bit of end of year stuff out of the way. Loving how Amazon sales have picked up and hope they stay at this level for a while.

I got to read more Byron Katie stuff and know exactly who / what I will be using as the subject of my first inquiry. (More of that to follow in later posts.)

I got to finally watch a new episode of one of my TV shows. I miss my favorites when the networks put them on hiatus.

And now I am ever so grateful for my nice bed awaiting me! I am hoping that my avoidance of Hot Chocolate before bed tonight will let me have a better night’s sleep than last night 🙂 Who’d of thought that there was enough caffeine in hot chocolate to make the whole night a massive sleeping fail. LOL

Until Tomorrow!
